"Hello!" said Cecil, greeting him without the faintest hint of question or confusion in his voice. As though there could be nothing more welcome or natural than a slightly deranged and more than slightly traumatized, blood-stained scientist appearing at his door step in the wee hours of the morning. "Please come in! Would you like coffee? Or tea? I’m all out of cayenne, unfortunately, but I have a nice rooiboos-agave blend that Old Woman Josie—oomph!"
The sound of breath being compressed from Cecil’s lungs was created by the fact that Carlos had just thrown his arms around him and squeezed.
Like the rest of Night Vale fans, I’m head-over-heels for Branwyn-says awesome fic "Run, Run Fast As You—" and eagerly await each new chapter. I’ve been doodling her Cecil and Carlos on and off since I started reading the fic last August, because they are an absolute delight. Her voice for Cecil is absolutely spot-on in the most heartwarming way and I just can’t get enough of the story.
So I was absolutely heartbroken (and filled with rage) to learn she was attacked recently, compromising her safety. I won’t repeat what is her story to tell, but you can read it here. (Please be aware of the major trigger warning at link.)
I’m fairly sure a lot of you feel the same clawing need to know that our fellow fans, especially people we admire, are safe and cared for. She’s accepting donations to help move (something that was already in the cards, but has obviously become an immediate necessity), so please pitch in if you’re able. I know money is tight for a lot of us, but like, if we all pitched in the same amount we spontaneously spend at Starbucks any given week, it might make it just a bit easier for her.
(Also, since it’s apparently a thing for trolls to harass people who have assaulted or gone through a trauma, I’ll say this: If you feel you have a rebuttal to any of this, you bring it to me. You don’t like donations? You don’t believe it? You just wanna talk some shit and get a rise out of someone? Then bring it to me. I never block users or anons, plus I’m really high-strung and kind of emotional. So you’ll get a way better response from me anyway, since Bran is a class-act.)
